Kettle Art!

Over the weekend I was able to experience art by newly local artists at a gallery called Kettle Art in Deep Ellum.

One of the artists goes by the name of Jeff Skele. His images have a lot a bright colors and very bold strokes.  Skele says that his inspirations are Andy Warhol and Basquiat. He also explains how he loves art, that it is his passion in life and he his very grateful for the opportunity to show his work. Jeff Skele's work asks the audience who are the monsters in this world if monsters exist.

The other artist being exhibited at Kettle Art is Ruben Ramirez. Right off the back I could tell Jackson Pollock had to be one of his inspirations, but I wanted to know more. Most of his work gives off a sense of chaos and frustration. I approached Ramirez and asked him who or what inspires him. He said he loves the Renaissance era, Raymond Sanders, and of course Jackson Pollock.

These two men were very excited to chat about art and how they ended up exhibiting together. The environment was very calm and inviting. They have inspired me to exhibit my work more often and one day I will at Kettle Art.
